Jim Dinning, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Calgary, Alberta 1, 2
Jim Dinning is the chair of the board of Western Financial Group. He is also chair of the board of Export Development Canada. As well, he is the chair and director of a number of public and private companies and not for profit organizations.
Until December 2004, Dinning held the position of executive vice president, TransAlta Corporation. Prior to joining TransAlta in 1997, Dinning held several key positions during his 11 years as a member of the legislative assembly in Alberta. Of note is Dinning’s service as provincial treasurer from 1992 to 1997.
Dinning is a graduate of Queen’s University with two degrees: a Bachelor of Commerce in 1974 and a Masters in Public Administration in 1977. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary in 2002.
Dinning is married, has four children and resides in Calgary.
Diane Brickner, Edmonton, Alberta 1
Diane Brickner is the President and CEO of Peace Hills Insurance. She joined the company at its inception in 1982 and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 1990.
Brickner is currently a Director on the Insurance Bureau of Canada, Chairman of the Property and Casualty Insurance Compensation Corporation, and most recently a Director of the Edmonton Eskimos. This year she was honoured with the 2008 Charles Allard Chair of Business Award.
She was the Insurance Woman of the Year in 1992, and the Edmonton YWCA Woman of Distinction in Business, Management and Profession in 1995.
Gabor Jellinek, Montreal, Quebec 2
Gabor Jellinek is President of GJ Holdings Ltd., a private investment company founded in 1999. He graduated from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary in chemical engineering and received his Degree in management from McGill University in 1974.
From 1987 through 1999, he was Vice President of the Seagram Company Limited, a major distilling company with worldwide affiliates, and from 1991 to 1999 he was Chairman of Joseph E. Seagram and Sons Limited.
Jellinek is also a Director of the following publicly listed companies on the Toronto Stock Exchange: Cancor Mines Ltd. and Velan Inc.
Robert G. Jennings, Calgary, Alberta
Robert Jennings established Jennings Capital in 1993, a Canadian owned independent full integrated investment dealer, providing investment banking, research, institutional and retail sales to clients through offices in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
It was the culmination of Jennings’ 40 years of experience in the investment business, which began in 1968 when he joined the Research Department of McLeod Young Weir.
Jennings has served, and or continues to serve on numerous boards of directors; including Encal Energy Ltd., Summit Resources Limited and many more.

In his position as President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Financial Group, Scott Tannas leads a team that is dedicated to building the strongest financial institution in Western Canada.
In 1996, with the initial backing of a group of local business people, the company was listed on The Alberta Stock Exchange. In 1998, the company graduated to The Toronto Stock Exchange and initiated an unprecedented application for a Schedule 1 Canadian bank charter, which result in the creation of Bank West in 2003.
Tannas has received an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, was named as one of Alberta’s Most Influential Citizens by Venture Magazine.
In addition to his business commitments, Tannas is a member of the Ranchmen's Club of Calgary, a fundraiser for SOS Children’s Villages Canada, and chairman of the Western Communities Foundation.
Philip L. Webster, Director, Montreal, Quebec 1
Philip Webster, a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, combined farming, architecture, teaching and, currently, investment careers. A director of Erdene Gold, trustee of several charitable foundations and volunteer organizations, he and his wife Judith have two children and three grandchildren.
Bill Yuill, Medicine Hat, Alberta 2
Bill Yuill is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Monarch Corporation, a private investment company with Head Office in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
The company currently owns and operates companies involved in transportation, real estate financing and development, communications and sports properties.
Yuill holds directorships in two Canadian publicly traded companies, is a Governor of the Western Hockey League, is a member of the World President’s Organization and was recently awarded a Honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Lethbridge.
Yuill resides in Medicine Hat with his wife Elizabeth.
